NetGuard Teens 2025: Equipping Teenagers for a Safer and Smarter Digital Future

As young people spend more time online, digital safety, critical thinking and responsible technology use have become essential life skills. In 2025, Earth Peace Action (EPAc) organised NetGuard Teens, engaging 57 teenagers in learning about online safety, digital identity, misinformation and emerging technologies.

The programme reflected EPAc’s commitment to youth empowerment and digital education, helping young people develop the knowledge and awareness needed to navigate the internet more safely, responsibly and productively.

Five Topics, One Digital Empowerment Goal

NetGuard Teens featured five facilitators who addressed important aspects of teenagers’ digital lives:

Blessing Garba — Online Scams and Phishing: Understanding online scams, recognising phishing attempts and improving digital safety awareness.

Abubakar Abdrahman — Beyond the Scroll: Productive Apps and Platforms for Teens: Exploring useful digital tools and platforms that support learning, creativity and productivity.

Mrs Olufisoye Adenitan — Fake News, Real Consequences: How to Spot Misinformation: Developing critical thinking skills to identify misleading information and assess online content.

Ibiso Ikiroma-Owiye — Your Online Brand: Building a Positive and Purposeful Digital Identity: Understanding how online behaviour and digital footprints shape personal identity and reputation.

Ayoola Falola — AI, AR and the Future: Understanding Emerging Technologies: Introducing teenagers to emerging technologies and their growing relevance in everyday life.

Together, these sessions addressed practical challenges and opportunities young people encounter online, from protecting themselves against digital threats to using technology for learning and personal development.

Investing in Responsible Digital Citizens

By bringing 57 teenagers into a focused learning experience, EPAc reinforced the importance of equipping young people to make informed decisions in an increasingly connected world.

NetGuard Teens forms part of EPAc’s wider commitment to practical education, digital skills development and youth empowerment. We believe young people should not only have access to technology but also understand how to use it safely, thoughtfully and purposefully.

People, Planet, Purpose: Together for Humanity.
