An invitation to celebrate our elders, honour their contributions and create a day of joy, dignity, connection and recognition.

What happens when we bring together the people whose sacrifices, wisdom, hard work and resilience helped shape our families, communities and society—and give them a day dedicated to celebrating them?
We create something meaningful. We create an opportunity to reconnect generations, recognise a lifetime of contributions and remind our elders that they remain valued, respected and an important part of our shared future.
This is the vision behind the Golden Years (G50+) Initiative, a programme of Earth Peace Action (EPAc) dedicated to celebrating adults aged 50 and above and creating opportunities for them to feel appreciated, included and connected.
Under the theme “Celebrating the Generation That Built Us,” the Golden Years (G50+) Initiative will bring together adults aged 50 and above from communities across Akure, Ondo State, for a memorable experience of joy, relaxation, recreation and intergenerational connection.
Scheduled for 1 May 2027, the event is being planned as a space where older adults can step away from everyday pressures, have fun, feel young again and enjoy the recognition they deserve.
The programme will feature music, dance, games, drama, storytelling, health screening, interaction with younger generations and special recognition activities. Each element is intended to create an atmosphere where participants can share experiences, build connections and celebrate life together.
This is not simply about growing older. It is about recognising the people behind the stories, the sacrifices behind the progress and the wisdom that continues to enrich our communities.
Why Golden Years Matters
Across generations, older adults have contributed to families, businesses, education, public service, community life and the preservation of cultural values. Yet opportunities to celebrate their contributions, strengthen social connections and place their wellbeing at the centre of community activities remain important.
Golden Years seeks to help address this need by promoting dignity, inclusion, social connection and appreciation. It also creates an opportunity for younger people to listen, learn and engage with the generation whose experiences can offer valuable lessons for the future.
Through this initiative, EPAc aims to strengthen the bonds between generations and encourage a culture in which older adults are not merely remembered for what they have done, but are actively included and celebrated for who they are.
Be Part of the Celebration
A programme of this nature becomes meaningful when communities and individuals come together to make it possible. There are several ways to participate.
If you are aged 50 or above and live in Akure or a surrounding community, we invite you to register and be part of this special gathering. Come ready to relax, connect with others, enjoy the activities and be celebrated.
